Blue dot fever this, blue dot fever that, what about my fever? I’m in bed recovering from whatever cold is going around LA feeling crazy. Mitski had a big emergency this week, she ate a silicone lid that covers her cat food. I understand though, it does look like it would feel nice to bite into. Just had us in a panic for a day because we had to take her to the emergency vet, then to another vet in the morning and it only cost 5 grand, what a steal. We’re rebranding her as an expensive, luxury cat now. This is why you should adopt not shop because you’ll be spending money either way. We’re happy to do it though, so happy she’s back and feeling better.

Blue Dot Fever

Everyone is cancelling their concerts because of “blue dot fever” but I think artist’s egos are too big, sell out a smaller venue, test the market, make it an “intimate show,” it looks way better and it’s better for the audience. People can’t afford too many concerts right now so they have to be more selective. Lily Allen and Hilary Duff tested the market at smaller shows before selling more. You have to gauge interest. Also, let’s talk about Meghan Trainor another time, I can’t do this today.

Vegan Recipe: Sick Soup

I make this soup when I’m sick because it’s low effort and has everything you need to get better.

Ingredients

• Cauliflower cut into florets

• Carrots peeled and chopped

• Garlic, as much as you want

• Half an onion

• Kale

• Olive Oil

• Tumeric

• Cashew cream

Massage your kale with olive oil and salt and roast until crispy (shouldn’t take too long), also coat your cauliflower, carrots, garlic and onion with olive oil and tumeric and salt & pepper, then roast until browned and blend with enough veggie broth to make it liquid, add in some cashew cream for creaminess. Heat it up on the stove and serve with crispy kale on top.

I feel like I talk about MUNA all the time but they’re back with a new album and it’s a great return to form, shimmery pop music with beautiful layers and just a good time. The lead single “Dancing On The Wall” was such a good first single, it really set the scene. Also their music videos are just perfection. I love “Eastside Girls,” it’s just a good time.

We have a RUG! Huge news, I feel like a rug changes everything. Our cat’s obsessed with it. We feel like real mid thirties people now. All we kind of need now is maybe a chair but I have decision fatigue. That’s my only major news this week.

Tiffany Stringer’s Premiere Night

I went to a cool thing this week, future pop star Tiffany Stringer hosted a music video series premiere at the Los Feliz Theater. She has such a good concept, the themes are so present, I love how cohesive her world is and I loved the idea of making it a premiere tour. She just has everything going for her right now.

• A cup of edamame

• Basil

• A cup of kale

• Lemon juice

• A couple of cloves of garlic

I’ve been not into lunch lately, like I have no interest in it but I do get hungry so this has fit all my weird needs. Just blend it all up. I eat it on toast with radishes and it keeps me going.

Artist I’m Obsessed With: Kacey Musgraves

This new album is so good, I’ve loved her marketing for it too. She was just appearing in all of these places. As a girl from the middle of nowhere, TX it’s just beautiful to see. I love the Mexican influence in this too, I feel like that’s how you do cultural appreciation.

I am currently wrapped up in the Summer House drama, and I have a few feelings about it. Ciara is so beautiful, and I know we all fall for ugly men but jeeeeeez West is so not it. I’m proud to say I’ve never liked him and always saw through his bullshit, but I can’t fault Ciara. As for Amanda, I was rooting for her to get out of that marriage and be alone and find herself. This is such a disappointment. I think she suffers from low self esteem. I want Ciara to be with someone incredible. I want West to know he’s gross and always has been. Y’all are giving too many mediocre men a chance.

As far as apartment updates, we’re still hanging up art, trying to sell Sam’s giant chair. I do feel like we scored a gem. I never want to leave, I’m in the market for some new bedding though if anyone has something they truly love.

Beauty Rec

A rare beauty rec from me, I have reoccuring face rash called perioral dermatitus, or something like that I can’t spell. So makeup is super rare for me lately while it clears up. Makeup has been super rare for me in general since 2020. It just feels like it weighs me down. So lately I’ve been curling my lashes and using this lash curl finisher. It makes me look so put together and awake without mascara. I DO tint my lashes and eyebrows so there’s that too. I just love the way this makes me look.

Vegan Recipe: Thai Green Curry

I made my own thai green curry paste and froze it in an ice cube tray and it’s been incredible. I used this recipe and got the ingredients at the thai grocery store. It’s so easy to make a good curry, I would probably add more jalapeno with seeds, sometimes as a spice fiend I overspice but I couldn’t spiced more. You just fry off the curry paste, add a can of coconut milk, a cup of vegetable broth and add your veggies.

I’m a big fan of The Marias, so of course I’d like Not For Radio, their Bloom EP is just so nice to listen to. It’s music for living your life if that make sense. I want more all the time.

Why are apartments never finished? I’ve never lived in a place this big and lived with someone who had opinions on things, I assumed I’d get to decide on literally everything and I hate someone else having opinions. We’re making progress though. We also welcomed our new baby girl Mitski into the family. She’s free from her cone of shame and wandering about. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions getting another cat, I’ve felt guilty and happy all at the same time. She brings so much light into my life already though and I think that’s a win.

GEESE GATE!! Omg noo I can’t believe a band is using fanpages to get attention! Fanpages are so old and so obvious that I can’t believe anyone is shocked by this but I guess that’s the industry. I felt like Sombr was the most obvious example but people are so bent out of shape about Geese. I think everyone wanted to believe they all discovered Geese organically but we all know you didn’t and that’s okay because that’s what effective marketing does, it makes you feel like YOU discovered something that’s unique and special to you. I’ve had been with Geese since I worked with them a few years ago and I think they’re mid and their fans are annoying and crazy but that’s just my (correct) take.

Vegan Recipe: Roasted Veggies With Tzatziki

Oh it’s more roasted veggies on sauce. But this sauce you make so it looks like you did something.

Ingredients

• Potatoes (I like those little round ones that come in a bag, I slive them in half)

• Carrots 2-3

• Broccoli

• Red Peppers

• Chickpeas

• Vegan plain yogurt, the thicker the better, I like cocojune, but you want something unsweetened and without the coconut flavor if you can find something good.

• A good handful of dill

• Lemons

• Garlic

• 2 small Persian cucumbers

Roast your veggies. Chop your dill, garlic and grate your cucumbers. Press the grated cucumbers in paper towels to try to dry them off. Mix dill, cucumber, garlic, and lemoon juice with your yogurt. Now you have vegan tzatziki, put your roasted veg and chickpeas on top. Boom, what a beautiful meal.

I’ve talked about Tender Misfit before on here, but her new EP is out. If you’re a POP GIRL, you’ll love it. It’s fun, it’s got star energy and I went to her listening party and she was so sweet.

It’s my birthday week but I’m delaying it due to moving and I did skip a weekly wrapped, my 20 followers will be so mad at me. I know it seems like this move has taken forever and it’s true. Most of our stuff is done but I’ve never thought about furniture so much in my life. It’s like I’m a really decisive person but when it comes to furniture it feels like this nightstand or couch will define my life forever. I’m so sorry to anyone reading this and being so sick of me talking about furniture, but I’m sick of it too. I hate moving, I won’t do it again for 5 years. I guess the biggest news is we welcomed a new cat into our lives. Mitski was being fostered by our friend and we just fell in love with her. She’s a sweet little black cat who loves being snuggled. It was hard to comprehend getting a new cat after the loss of my soul cat Mushka but it’s been really nice having her in the apartment. Mixed feelings all over the place.

Vegan Recipe: Breakfast Tacos

As a Texan, there is no meal more sacred to me than a breakfast taco. My favorite growing up was Bob’s Tacos potato and egg taco. The tortilla was incredible, the flavors were amazing. I wish so badly that they had a tofu version but that would be crazy in my hometown. So this is my usual breakfast taco.

Ingredients: Feeds Two

• Tortillas of your choosing, preferably HEB fresh tortillas

• Tofu, pressed. I use about a half a block.

• One potato

• Tumeric, paprika, nutritional yeast.

• Add Ons: Veggie Sausage, Avocado, Pico, jalapeño. Live your life.

First things first press your tofu. Preheat the oven to 375. I like skin off my potato, then I dice it up really small, coat with olive oil and put in the oven. Then just chill until the potatoes are mostly done. Heat your tortillas on a pan then put to the side. Heat up some oil in a pan, crumble the tofu over and cook until it’s getting a little browned. Then add in your taste of tumeric, paprika, and save the nooch until the end. Combine the potatoes and tofu in a pan and divide among your tortillas.

I’m hereeeeee for this album, this is messy and chaotic and FUN. This album makes me feel COOL when I’m driving around in my Camry. It makes me want to go out and have a good time which is something I rarely feel like doing these days. I swear Slayyyter is savingggg pop music right now. This is what I’ve been saying about the anti clean girl movement. Bring back loud messy women.

The moving drama continues, but I wanted to alert everyone that we decided on a couch and it’s from Living Spaces. Two people I trust highly recommended it to me, so we’ll see if it holds up. It felt like a big leap in my adult life. My work continues to be crazy but that’s good news.

Zara Larsson is being cancelled online for watching a TikTok video about AI fruit, I’m not even kidding. Her TikTok comments are flooded with people asking her to address the AI. It’s not in her music or visuals, people need to touch grass. The amount of hate women get online is absolutely crazy.

Vegan Recipe: Roasted Vegetables on Sauce

I’ve been really busy lately so my go-to recipe is my tried and true, roasted vegetables on top of a sauce. One of my favorite things to eat in this life are roasted vegetables, and if you add a sauce it’s basically a meal. Put them on top of the sauce, and this sauce this week is hummus.

Ingredients

• One bag pre-cut cauliflower florets

• 2-3 carrots

• One can chickpeas

• 1 potato

• 1 thing of hummus

• Tahini (if you want to be extra)

Cut up your potato and carrots and pour onto a pan with the cauliflower. Drain and dry your chickpeas and put them on another pan. Cover everything with oil, salt, pepper and any spices you have on hand (I go hard with paprika). Roast until cripsy, add a couple of spoonfuls of hummus to your plate, add everything on top. If you go the extra mile, cut your tahini with some water and drizzle a little on top.

I went to McKayla’s sold out first show ever and I was really blown away. She had costumes, backup dancers, choreography, her rendition of “Lucky” was so good. I feel like she has such pop star energy and she’s just starting out.

If you’ve been following along, me and my boyfriend got a beautiful new apartment. It’s my dream apartment, but the layout is a little funky. So we’ve found ourselves in the market for a couch. This WHOLE YEAR I’ve been saying how important this couch will be. Nothing is more important to me, I’ve sat on so many bad airbnb couches. I’ve dreamed of a life where I have my own couch, I was in a small studio for 5 years, this is my time. However, every single couch you could every think about has a billion bad reviews online, so you get really deep into this couch brain where all couches are bad and you are throwing your money away if you even THINK about buying one. I finally found a good one and they said it’ll take 3-5 months to ship and they said I should get one of Facebook marketplace in the meantime. That’s wild. You want me to buy two couches??? Sorry I didn’t premeditate my couch for an apartment I didn’t even have. If you have a good couch rec please let me know.

Super recommend if you’ve been looking for something like it.

Vegan Recipe: Gnocchi With Sausage

Another easy one for you guys since I’ve been DROWNING IN WORK. A blessing but I’ll still complain. I cook my gnocchi before, people will say you don’t have to, I don’t care I like the texture better.

Ingredients:

One pac gnocchi

One pack field roast italian sausage (the best imo)

One huge amount of brussel sprouts

Garlic (to taste)

Italian seasoning (to taste)

Red Pepper Flakes (the most you can handle)

Olive Oil

Nooooch (as much as you want)

If you’re incredibly lazy you can throw all this on a pan in the oven, spray with oil and cook until you’re satisfied. If you want to try harder, cut your brussels in half, coat in oil and salt and pepper, pop in the overn at lik 375 for 30-40 minutes (I like them CRISP) boil you gnocchi, save some pasta water, then drain. Heat some oil in a pan and cook your sausage until crispy (any meat even fake meat freaks me out without a crisp). Chop up garlic and cook in the pan, add italian seasoning and red pepper flakes, nooch and add some pasta water to keep it nice and add in your gnocchi and sprouts and let it get all mixed and nice.

I feel like Tender Misfit has such a COOL AESTHETIC both in visuals and sound. Her new song Act of God slaps so hard, that’s all I can say. It makes me feel invincible. I love what she’s been doing lately. Pop with an edge.

I’m exhausted this week from client onboarding and apartment hunting. It has been SO DRAMATIC. Sam has done a great job, we have a spreadsheet of listings and pros and cons and we’ve been to different neighborhoods. We found one we LOVE, well, I love, and convinced Sam to love, and we sent in our entire life’s worth of bank statements and Tax Forms and it’s crazy how much information they need. I felt violated. Then we got a lease and we asked them questions before we signed and then the landlord basically said “sorry you can’t ask questions, good luck with your search,” and now Sam’s on the phone with him trying to explain we still want the unit. He’s doing a great job, he’s laying on the charm. It’s been STRESSFUL. It IS my dream place and I’m crossing my fingers it’s resolved and I can stop living out of a suitcase.

Harry Styles: Meh

I don’t know how to super feel about this album, I feel like it’s nice, I just don’t feel like it’s as good as his other work. I’m happy he’s being a little experimental, I just don’t feel the energy in this. It’s nice to have on but I kind of forget when it’s on. I need to listen more but that’s my take for now.

Vegan Recipe: Dense Bean Salad

We all are aware of the dense bean salads out there. I usually make this one in spring because I’m a bean fiend and despite what RFK says, I think beans are like the best thing you can eat.

Ingredients

• One can cannelini beans

• 1 bunch Dill

• 1 bunch Parsley

• 1 Shallot (chopped)

• Garlic (to your heart’s content)

• 2 persian cucumbers, sliced

• Handful or radished, diced

• One jar of artichoke hearts

• Olive Oil

• Lemon Juice

Drain and rinse the beans, add to a bowl with all your chopped veggies and herbs. Mix with olive oil and lemon juice and salt and pepper. See? So easy. I eat it on toast or just out of a bowl.

I’m having a big Towa Bird kind of week, her new song “Gentleman” has been a go-to for me, she has great energy that you can just feel through these songs.

It’s a month until my birthday and honestly, I ammm miserable. Jobs are hard, we’re moving back to LA thankfully and finally. We have a sublet for March and we’re in the market for a new place and it’s been a difficult process. I’ve watched my dream apartments slip through my fingers while I’ve been suffering in the cold in Big Bear. I am turning 35 this year and I’m delaying my birthday until I feel like celebrating. I want to be settled in a beautiful apartment with all my things back where they belong. This year was amazing and I’m so thankful but I miss my old life so much.

They’re beta-testing full song listens on TikTok through Apple Music, they’re also testing listening parties. This is only for Apple users, I think everyone else gets a 30 second preview. I think these would be great, I wish there was a Spotify option though as a Spotify girly. TikTok is such a music discovery tool and I think this will be super useful for that streaming crossover.

Vegan Recipe: Sweet Potato Quesadillas*

These have zero cheese in them so don’t come at me and I have no photos because it’s a struggle meal, but our struggle meals deserve love and this one is my favorite meal when I just can’t be bothered. It’s super filling and feels like a treat even though it’s pretty healthy.

Ingredients (Makes 1-2 depending on how big your sweet potato is)

• 1 sweet potato

• 1 can black beans

• 2-4 tortillas

• Jalapenos (optional)

• Pico de Gallo, homemade or store-bought (optional)

Stab your sweet potato a couple of times with a fork and put it in the microwave for like 6 minutes, keep adding 30 until really soft and you can stab it all the way through. Rinse your beans and add to a pan with some oil, season with whatever spices you have on hand, I mash them a little so they are easier to spread. Scrape out the sweet potato and add to one side of your tortilla, add the beans to the other side. If using jalapenos, I slice them and put them inside for some spice. Corn also is bomb here if you have it. Fold the tortillas over and add to a pan with some oil and crisp them up. Slice them in half and serve with your pico and whatever hot sauce you want.

Bella Kay is breaking through a lot of the social media noise and gaining a TON of traction, her sounds have been used over a million times, she broke onto the hot 100. Her writing is fantastic.

We got so much snow this week, it’s been crazy. I hate the cold but it’s so nice to look at. Sam made me go snowshoeing and it was interesting. I would’ve been a terrible pioneer. We’ll be back in LA in March and I’m beyond excited and honestly I don’t have a ton of updates this week. I’m exhausted for no reason and doing anything feels hard right now, probably because we’re apartment shopping and Sam has the worst taste and the idea of compromising on where I live kills me.

Vegan Recipe: Squashta

This week I made butternut squash soup as a pasta sauce basically. I roasted a whole squash with onions and garlic and blended it with some oatmilk to make a pasta sauce.

Ingredients (for two with leftovers)

• 1 box banza rotini (for the protein police)

• 1 butternut squash

• half an onion

• 5 garlic cloves (or less if you aren’t a garlic girl)

• 1 bunch of curly kale (destemmed)

• nutritional yeast

• oat milk/cashew cream/vegan cream of your choice

Roast the squash and put the onion and garlic in foil with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Roast at 425 degrees and check on it in 20, the squash can take a while to get really soft. Boil a pot of water and cook your pasta. Blend the squash, onion, and garlic with some oatmilk to make more liquidy, I’ve also added veggie broth in the past. Add a ton of nutritional yeast, salt and pepper. I find squash can take a lot of salt. Meanwhile, massage your kale with olive oil and roast in the oven at 350 until crispy. Combine all the ingredients and add a ton of red pepper flakes.

Aww Happy Valentines!!! I’m not a huge Valentines fan and we’re in Big Bear so we’re staying in. I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Big Bear but there’s like two nice restaurants and I’m not interested in any of them. One has a nice Impossible Burger, which is fine but not my ideal. I’m also testing out a new program this week that is supposed to help with content editing for artists. Lowkey, if I love it, I might not talk about it at all and gatekeep it.

Vegan Recipe: Dirty Martini Pasta

There are a lot of recipes for this online that require a lot of cream and cheese. That’s not for me. I hate cream sauce. This pasta is one of my favorites because it’s really customizable. I LOVE capers, so I do measure capers with my heart. This is really about what weird things you want in your pasta. I just love olives and garlic, kind of a more intense aglio e olio. Which is one of my favorite foods in the first place.

For two I guess:

• Pasta of your choice (I prefer angel hair but whatever you want)

• Castelvetrano olives

• Capers

• Garlic

• One Shallot

• One Lemon

• Parsley

• Olive Oil

• Toasted Breadcrumbs

This couldn’t be easier but cook your pasta. In another pan heat up your olive oil and sauté garlic and a chopped up shallot. Also chop up your olives and parsley. Add capers to the olive oil mix, you want them to crisp a little. Then add your pasta, olives, and parsley and add pasta water as needed. Add your breadcrumbs, lemon zest if you’re fancy, and some lemon juice. Then top with a gallon of red pepper flakes if you’re like me.

Playlist: Valentine’s Day Playlist

Ngl, it’s not looking to be getting any better, but I guess we have to try??? I’m looking forward to the Bad Bunny Super Bowl, I’ve been taking my Spanish lessons very seriously so I hope I understand everything. I’ve been using Preply, in case you’re wondering, I find it really nice. I do two lessons a week and it’s always terrifying to speak in Spanish for so long but it’s been really rewarding. I’m determined to be fluent this year.

Music News: Wtf is the Turning Point Halftime Show

I can’t think of a worse thing to watch. Imagine watching Kid Rock instead of Bad Bunny. That old Kid Rock song about him liking underage girls has been circulating and nothing is funnier to me. People really do have the weirdest things to support. I guess it makes sense though. I don’t really understand the need for the Superbowl Halftime guest to ever been American, we had The Weeknd, Shakira, Paul McCartney…guys. Bad Bunny is Puerto Rican, he’s American. He also just has hits, something Kid Rock hasn’t had in a long time. People make me so mad.

Vegan Recipe: Dan Dan Cabbage

This was shockingly good, sometime’s I’m tired of the same vegan dishes. Cabbage is supposed to be the vegetable of the year (recession indicator). I followed this recipe but I used peanut butter instead of Chinese sesame paste because we just don’t have it in Big Bear and it was very good. I love Dan Dan noodles so this didn’t shock me but the crumble tofu was also amazing.

I’m obsessed with Katie Tupper’s voice, there is something so haunting about it. Her lyricism is so poetic and her songs just feel warm and beautiful.

Oh poor Emily, she’s in Big Bear for a month snowboarding. Yes, it sounds nice. My main issue is I am desperate to get back to LA so I can WORK. I am feeeeling this cost of living crisis or whatever people are calling it now. I have fomo from missing Grammy parties, I am tired of being a cabin person. I am just a little on the sadder side this week. Probably also has to do with our government and the descend into fascism.

Grammy Thoughts

I don’t like awards shows, it’s known. I only like performances, I hate speeches and host banter. I’m happy for Bad Bunny, Olivia Dean, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, etc etc. Overall a good year for women, which I say every year. Women are carrying this industry.

Vegan Recipe: Kale, Potato, White Bean Soup

This is my go-to soup recipe, it hits the spot, you can add in whatever you like and it’s super easy. It’s basically like hot salad.

Ingredients (Feeds 2)

One bunch of curly kale, destemmed

2-3 carrots, sliced into rounds

Half an onion, diced

As much garlic as your heart desires, chopped

2 yellow potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes

One can of Cannellini beans

Italian Seasoning (Or literally whatever you have, parsley, thyme, oregano, rosemary go nuts.)

One carton of veggie stock

Optional: Nutritional Yeast

Instructions: Sautee onion and garlic until translucent, add carrots and sautee a little. Add seasoning of your choice then veggie stock. Let it come to a boil then add diced potatoes. Let it cook, let the potatoes soften. Add your beans and kale. Let the kale wilt. Add nooch if you want and any other seasonings. Easy easy easy. You can make this meal when you’re sad and it’ll be nice and healthy and tasty.

I’ve been a longtime Holly Humberstone fan and her new music is soooo good and she seems to have had a little brand shift but maybe I just haven’t seen her in a minute. Either way, this reminded me of how much I love her music. SO MANY GOOD SONGS, and I just think this is her year.

We’re in Steamboat this week to snowboard. It’s my second year snowboarding so I’m still terrified and I had two bad injuries last year but I’m determined to stop being a heel-side warrior and master toe-side. Learning a new thing in your mid-30s really sucks, I’m not going to lie.

Music Marketing News: Soundscape and New Spotify Updates

I’ve been trying out this app Soundscape, it’s pretty cute so far. You can review albums and share music with people and follow other music influencers. I think it’s interesting. It does integrate with Spotify which can be helpful or annoying depending on where you stand with Spotify.

Speaking of Spotify, they announced a new playlisting feature Prompted Playlists, I like that it uses your listening history but it wasn’t getting niche enough for me. I wanted like “Lana Del Rey style sultry getting ready songs,” and it was giving me basic Lana hits, like I want it to give me indie artists with a similar vibe, but maybe I’m asking for too much. I DID see my first songs I listened to on Spotify and enjoyed that. I had some real deep cuts in there, and I was listening to Dua Lipa VERY early.

Vegan Recipe: Vegan Vodka Pasta

Since we’re cold in our cute cabin, I made another go-to for when I’m kind of tired but need something comforting. This is probably one of my top favorite pastas.

Ingredients: For Two Hungry People

Tomato paste (3 tablespoons)

Onion (I use a half for two people)

Garlic (to taste, I use like 3 cloves, I love garlic)

One package Banza

Red Pepper Flakes (as many as your heart desires)

A hint of vodka (I get one of those shot bottles)

Add boiling water to a bowl of raw cashews, I don’t have a measurement for this, but you want about 1/3 cup of cashew cream. I just throw cashews in a bowl. You can always save the rest for so many things throughout the week. Once they’ve soaked for about 20-30 minutes, drain them and add to a blender. Add small amounts of water until creamy. Boil a pot of water and cook your pasta, save about a half cup of the water. Chop your garlic and onion and sauté until slightly browned. Then add rerd pepper flakes, make sure this doesn’t burn. Add your tomato paste, and add more if you feel like it. Sauté until it darkens then add your vodka and make sure to let it really cook. Then add your cream and stir with some pasta water until it has a nice creamy texture. Add in nutritional yeast if you want to then add your pasta. If you want to be bougie add some fresh basil.

I’m a Madison Beer truther. I think she’s beautiful, I like her music. She has a new album out and it’s just a pleasant listen. I think she makes good songs and everyone should give her a shot. My favorite song is “Home To Another One,” not on the recent album but it’s truly underrated.

Guyssss I’m watching Traitors. I’m not a big game show fan but I’ve just been eh. I’m currently in Austin and have been making the rounds. It’s always weird to be in a place you used to live. Everything changes and it feels like you’re aging super fast. I’ve also been trying out a new app called Soundscape and it’s pretty cool so far, it’s like GoodReads for music and it’s really interesting. Definitely need to dive into it more.

Vegan Recipe: Sweet Potato “Quesadillas”

This week we’re back in an Airbnb with just a whisper of a kitchen. So this is one of my comfort, easy meals. It’s not really a quesadilla at all, like there’s no concept of cheese. It’s just a folded tortilla, but it’s very filling and delicious and always hits. Also no cute photo of this one, she’s not a cute meal.

Ingredients, serving is for one, like this is just for you bb. Makes about two quesadillas or one giant quesadilla.

Black beans, as much as you want.

One sweet potato

Two regular size tortillas.

Optional: Jalapenos, corn, pico de gallo, guacamole, whatever you have to upgrade this.

Wash your sweet potato and stab it with a fork and microwave until it’s easy to pierce through. Depends on the size honestly. When it’s ready scrape it out and smush it on one side of your tortilla. One half per tortilla. Wash your black beans and add to the sweet potato mash with jalapenos and corn if you have it. Season with whatever you have and fold your tortillas over making sure they can stick pretty well and aren’t too stuffed. The sweet potato should bind the tortilla together or it’s messy. Then toast it on a pan until golden and slice it up. Serve with pico and guacamole if you have it and don’t forget extra hot sauce.

DUH, like old news, but she’s really been on rotation this week. Her visuals, her music, her live shows. Just insanely talented. She’s the it girl this year, if you’re not obsessed you’re too late.

I feel like I was feeling optimistic this year, maybe naively, but hopefully, until all the news started happening and now it feels like staying afloat. We couldn’t even have ten days of peace. That’s kind of all I have to say this week. We’ll keep it short and to the point.

Vegan Recipe: BBQ Tofu Potato

As a longtime vegetarian and a vegan for about 5 years, it’s hard sometimes coming back to Texas. Especially with my meat-eating boyfriend who everyone fawns over saying, “Oh does he even get enough meat,” they all act so worried then bring him all the BBQ he wants. Now, I have a usual system as the vegan eating BBQ where I get a baked potato and put sauce and jalapeños and onions in it. Is this a satisfying meal? It works but…there’s room for improvement. This time when my parents went out to get my boyfriend the BBQ he desperately needed I came up with a plan: the bbq tofu potato.

Ingredients (this is a single serving, clearly)

• About a fourth of a block of tofu, pressed.

• BBQ sauce, most of it is vegan but check.

• Pickles

• Jalapenos

• Onions

• One potato

• Paprika

• Chili Powder

• Soy Sauce

• Olive Oil

Preheat your oven to 425, scrub your potatoes, pat them dry and stab them with a fork all over. Oil and salt the skin and put them in the oven for 45-60 minutes until tender all the way through. While you’re roasting those taters, shred your tofu with a cheese grater. Combine olive oil, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder and a little soy sauce (liquid smoke would also probably be so good, but I don’t have any). Pop in the oven until nice and crispy. I put the tofu on parchment paper to keep it from sticking. Once it’s done mix with BBQ sauce to your liking. Slice open that potato and layer in your tofu, pickles, jalapenos and onions. Is this chill for your stomach? NO, but it is tasty and filling and you can feel included at family dinner.

Artist I’m Obsessed With: Debbii Dawson

I recently posted something about prediction artists that’ll blow up and my friend DMed me that I’m sleeping on Debbii Dawson. I looked up her Spotify and boom I was already following her and she got lost in the shuffle. Her song, “Chemical Reaction,” is soooooo fun and cool and quirky. She has this dreamy, vintage-y aesthetic, and really light pretty vocals. She’s also GORGEOUS, so that helps.

Happy New Year! My goal this year is to make friends so wish me luck. We’ll be moving back to LA this year and I’m hoping to have a taste of my former ambition again. I lost it in Covid and I’m desperately trying to get it back but while still maintaining a work/life balance. I guess that’s everyone’s goal, but I’ve missed my ambition. I desperately miss having a homebase and we won’t have our own place until April this year, this stresses me out but I’m hopeful the apartment gods will be in our favor.

Music Trends for 2026: Country and Cuntry

Still seeing a rise in country, but also in cuntry, I feel like the rise of cunty pop has been happening since Charli and we’re still there. Look at Tate McCrae and Addison Rae and Zara Larsson, but most importantly remember that trends don’t affect you as an artist as non trending music will always break through if it needs to we see that with Laufey and Olivia Dean.

Vegan Recipe: Tofu Toast

I am nervous to share this recipe as it is so close to my heart. I eat tofu toast almost every morning when I’m at home. I don’t think it’s for everyone but it’s the main reason I wake up. I have a weird aversion to avocado toast because I am so weird about texture. I can’t emphasize enough how much my texture issues plague me. I also read that eating a savory breakfast makes you happier as a person. That might be a lie but its fine. We’re all doing our best.

Ingredients (for one person, this is just for you)

• A fourth of a block of tofu, pressed, I press a whole block and divide it up for the week

• A handful of sliced red pepper

• A handful of brocolli, frozen works too

• A handful of spinach

• A slice or two of sourdough bread

• Jalapeños

• Green onions

• Turmeric

• Paprika

• Garlic Powder

• Nutritional yeast

To make: Roast your broccoli and peppers with some olive oil and salt and pepper, this is a little extra for breakfast, I know, but it’s worth it. You can also air fry them which is also fine. In a pan, heat up a smidge of olive oil and crumble your tofu. I like to cook it until I can see it’s golden all around. This scramble isn’t to mimic eggs, because I hate eggs. This is tofu, I don’t like to eat anything mushy. Once golden, add turmeric, paprika, and garlic powder. Measure with your heart. Add in the spinach until it’s wilted. Then hopefully your broccoli and red peppers are nice and roasty and add those to the pan, finish with nutritional yeast, pepper, and salt. Toast your bread. Add your slop to the bread and finish with jalapeños and green onions.

Susannah Joffe is also a Texas girl so we love her. She’s also fulfilling the void of emotional, indie pop for me. Her song “Die Your Daughter” has absolutely taken off, and it’s a real treat because I’ve been following her on TikTok for years and watched her promote that song so well. She’s been on tour with King Princess, her live shows look incredible and I just love her aesthetic.

Back in America and my favorite thing is ice cold water. It is 85 degrees in Texas right now and I hate it, but it’s nice being back in the cabin. It’s always nice being home because my dad is an avid gardener and it means all of my salad’s are homegrown. I’m working on being less online lately and it’s truly killing me. I always said that social media managers have the best relationship to social media because we don’t want to be “working” all the time so we prefer being offline but lately I feel like I’m never doing enough. I’m trying to do puzzles instead but my brain craves my fyp. Wish me luck.

Vegan Recipe:

This is originally from Vegan News but I make it all the time for the holidays so I added my adjustments.

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
1 medium butternut squash, about 2 pounds, peeled and cut into ½-inch pieces
1 (15.5-ounce) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
½ cup finely chopped walnuts
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced fresh sage
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
3 tablespoons water

1 sheet vegan puff pastry dough, thawed

Preheat oven to 375 and dice up your squash. Rinse the chickpeas and pat dry. Coat with olive oil and put on a baking sheet and roast until the squash is tender and the chickpeas are roasted. Saute onion and garlic in a pan until translucent then add walnuts and spices and cook until nice and toasty. Combine all of these ingredients. Lay out a piece of parchment paper about the size of baking tray. Unforld your puff pastry and face the longest side horizontal to the counter. Spoon out the filling onto the sheet, covering it within 1 inch of the edge. Then roll it up and tuck the ends underneath to seal. Cut some slits on top and brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Bake for about 25 minutes until nice and toasty.

I usually try to hide my country leanings but every time Ella pops up on my TikTok I’m just enchanted by her. You can really take the girl out of the country but she’ll just keep coming back! Her cover of Toby Keith’s “Wish I Didn’t Know Now,” is so incredible (the live version is better tbh) and I love “Choosin Texas.” Her whole discography is really feeding my country heart and I’m loving this new batch of country girls.

Missing my little Mushka a little extra lately, these are the only holiday photos I have from like the past 5 years. Mush always made the holidays special. Also I hate Christmas music and people think that makes me a bad person but there are so few Christmas songs that I like. I think it comes from working retail jobs and being a barista at a coffee shop. You just hear so much holly jolly music when you’re so miserable it feels like a cruel joke. So I’m not a big Christmas Spirit person. The only holiday movie I like is the Muppets Christmas Carol. BUT! We’re back in America and I’m enjoying how convenient everything is.

Music Marketing Rant: Chart Manipulation is so lame.

I was on TikTok the other day complaining about how much I don’t care about charts. We know Taylor Swift is the queen of releasing a new version of the same thing a billion times to keep her album on the top of the charts for some goal or record that I don’t care about. I think it’s lame and boring. I know a lot of artists do this and I think it truly doesn’t matter. Big news! Huge artist remains huge artist. It doesn’t make me think any differently of an album and it always feels like tired news to me. The swifties hate this and think I’m a hater but it’s just boring. I think it only matters if you break through on the charts for the first time and I get that it matters for some things but overall: boring, lame.

Vegan Recipe: My Famous Vegan Lasagna

My go to recipe for my parents, my boyfriend’s parents. Everyone loves it, you can freeze the leftovers. I have to make a point that I don’t like cheese, vegan or not vegan. I’m not a cheesy person so if you love melty cheese this recipe isn’t for you. I love cashew ricotta though and I haven’t had any complaints.

Ingredients

• Big bag of raw cashews (to be made into cashew ricotta)

• Big bag of spinach

• One block impossible or beyond meat (people have such a preference here and I can’t tell the difference)

• One big jar of Marinara

• Lasagna noodles

• 9x13 inch pan

• Optional: Nutritional Yeast, Vegan Pesto Sauce

Pre-heat the over to 375 and grease your pan

You want about a cup and a half of cashew cream and the usually requires a whole big bag of cashews, you can always keep the leftovers. Cashew cream has so much use. Soak your cashews for at least 30 minutes, preferable longer or even overnight. Drain them and put them in a blender with nutritional yeast and some salt, starting with a little water and adding more to make them smooth. You want it to be a spreadable texture but not too watery and you need it to be smooth and not lumpy.

Next cook your noodles, I’ve tried the pre-cooked noodles and they just don’t have the same texture.

Saute your spinach and add the cashew cream, again you want like a cup to a cup and a half to really cover the lasagna. You’re making a creamy spinach layer here. Put in a bowl and set aside.

Grease a pan and add your meat crumbles until they’re nice and browned. Add your marinara and let it simmer a bit. Set this aside in another bowl.

Add some sauce, just enough to coat the bottom of the pan. Then, start your layering, noodles, meaty marinara, noodles, cashew spinach, until you’re out of noodles. The final layer should be cashew and spinach, but I’ve also added a vegan pesto to the top when I ran out of cashew and spinach and it was amazing.

Cook covered with foil for 30-40 minutes to heat through, then uncovered for 10-20 minutes to brown the top.

Artist I’m Obsessed With: Izzy Escobar

I had the absolute please of interviewing Izzy Escobar at Antisocial Camp in New York this past year and I’ve been watching her blow up on TikTok. Her song “Vendetta” is so sultry and catchy and she has this vintage feeling that really feels so good to listen to. Very main character energy and feels good to listen to when you’re cold and hanging out with your family.

Every year Spotify Wrapped shows me how basic I am and I’m here to plead my case. I wish I could tell you every time I open my Spotify it’s to listen to some cool niche artist that I’m excited to put everyone on to. Unfortunately, when I open my Spotify it’s often to quiet the crippling anxiety I face on a daily basis by looping the same few songs that calm me down and help my make it through the day.

This often includes whatever is in my offline playlist for when I’m close to crying on a plane, in traffic, or walking home and in need of dissociating. Let me live, I’m historically uncool and I’ve come to terms with that. My top album and artist this year were both Kali Uchis and I did really love her album but it also was just nice to put on when I didn’t know what else to listen to.

Now for the 82 age thing…I love me some Roy Orbison, is that a crime?

Vegan Recipe: PB&J Oatmeal

Another week of me not cooking, so guess what you get? A life hack that has lasted me this whole year of not knowing what to eat for breakfast. In almost every country you can acquire this breakfast to make in your Airbnb or hotel. All you do is get oatmeal, peanut butter, jelly, and preferably a banana. I make oatmeal in the microwave and I never add too much liquid, that’s gross. I like my oatmeal to be almost a solid. Pb&J oatmeal with a banana is the perfect mix of sweet and salty and keeps me full for almost an entire day where I’m not sure when my next meal will be. I have food anxiety and physically can’t eat anything I don’t really want to eat. This oatmeal has never steered me wrong and is one of my safety foods.

Artist I’m Obsessed With: Sofia Isella

When I say Sofia Isella is one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen, her energy is so powerful and magnetic. Her lyricism is so sharp and unnerving, her new song “Above The Neck” is exactly what we need this year. There’s something about female artists who don’t cater to the male gaze that really captures my attention, it’s so refreshing.
